Historique et \u00e9volution :<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>
En 1844, le nouveau doyen de Dour, Jean-Baptiste Derie fait appel \u00e0 la congr\u00e9gation de la Sainte-Union afin qu\u2019elle vienne fonder dans la localit\u00e9 une \u00e9cole pour filles. Pour ce faire, un local est lou\u00e9 \u00e0 la rue Neuve actuellement nomm\u00e9e rue du Roi Albert. L\u2019\u00e9cole y commence le 20 mai 1844, date qui deviendra celle de la fondation de la Sainte-Union \u00e0 Dour. Ainsi, l\u2019\u00e9cole est tenue par des religieuses. Par la suite, le b\u00e2timent devenu trop petit \u00e0 la rue Neuve, la congr\u00e9gation ach\u00e8te un nouveau local en 1866. Situ\u00e9 dans la Grand-Rue, en face du parc actuel, ce nouveau b\u00e2timent comprend deux classes primaires et deux classes pour les petits. En 1872, la Direction de l\u2019\u00e9cole d\u00e9cide de cr\u00e9er un nouveau centre dans le quartier de Trich\u00e8res \u00e0 l\u2019emplacement d\u2019une ancienne fabrique d\u2019huile. Situ\u00e9 en face de l\u2019externat Saint-Joseph, \u00e0 la rue Trich\u00e8res, ce couvent de la Sainte Union comprenait cinq religieuses auxquelles vint s\u2019ajouter une sixi\u00e8me religieuse, en 1908, Madame V\u00e9ronique. Elle devint titulaire de la classe des petits.<\/p>
Ces deux couvents resteront ind\u00e9pendants jusqu\u2019en 1927.<\/p>
Aujourd\u2019hui, le couvent situ\u00e9 dans le quartier de Trich\u00e8res est transform\u00e9 en une banque Belfius.<\/p>
